Ending Homelessness
A stable home is the foundation for hope, safety, and opportunity. At TranScience, we work to support families and individuals in vulnerable communities by funding the construction of safe, modest shelters.
Our efforts prioritize regions where overcrowding, displacement, and extreme poverty leave children and families without shelter. With every shelter we help build, we create a space where people can feel secure, rest, and rebuild their futures.
In Vietnam, we have supported My Hoa Pagoda and Phuoc Tuong Pagoda in Nha Trang. A pagoda is a sacred place of worship that, in these communities, also functions as an orphanage and refuge for abandoned and homeless children. When we first visited on our mission trip, there wasn’t even a roof to shield the children. Today, through our efforts, these pagodas are on the path toward becoming safe havens where children can find shelter, stability, and care.
Your support enables us to provide not just walls and roofs – but dignity, comfort, and a new beginning.
At Phuoc Tuong Pagoda in Nha Trang, Ms. Kenina Nguyen, the children’s English teacher, brought joy and cultural exchange by teaching the orphans about Christmas traditions – introducing them to Santa Claus and sharing their first experience with pizza, creating memories filled with warmth, laughter, and learning.
After recess, the children sat patiently outside, their faces lit with anticipation as they waited for the older kids to return so they could all share the simple snack we brought. In that moment, surrounded by laughter and quiet chatter, it was clear that even the smallest acts of kindness – like a shared meal – can create a sense of joy, togetherness, and hope for these orphans who deserve every bit of love and care.
A young child eagerly handed us candy, saying the words in Vietnamese as we gently taught him how to share the same in English. With a smile, he ran off to offer the treats to his friends, bridging two languages in a moment of pure kindness and connection – a simple reminder of how generosity and learning can bring worlds together.
At My Hoa Pagoda, the monks gathered with the children to thank us, their voices filled with warmth as they wished us a bright future. The children echoed their gratitude with shy smiles and hopeful words, sending us off with blessings before we left for the markets to support local vendors. It was a touching reminder that acts of giving often come back multiplied in kindness and love.
In our group photo, the children raised their hands in peace signs – an endearing gesture they had learned from their peers and surroundings. Their laughter and excitement filled the moment, showing us how even small, shared symbols can create a sense of connection, joy, and belonging across cultures.
Before leaving to visit another orphanage in Nha Trang, we gathered with the children of Phuoc Tuong Pagoda for one last photo together. Their smiles and warmth made it hard to say goodbye, and as we left, we carried with us the joy of their laughter and the hope that our time there had left a lasting impact on their hearts.
Every night, over 150 million children worldwide lack a safe place to call home. Together, we can change this – one shelter at a time.
Every child deserves a safe place to call home. During our Annual Month of Giving, we focus on building and restoring shelters for families in need – starting in Vietnam. Your support helps provide roofs, beds, and the comfort of security for those without. Together, we can turn empty spaces into safe havens, giving children and families the stability they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
